Despite missing out on a top 3 finish, on the 24th of March, it was announced that Scotland full-back and Hawick local Stuart Hogg had won the 2016 Six Nations player of the championship award. Pipping Englishman Billy Vunipola to the title by 3% of the public’s votes, with Wales winger George North coming in 3rd, Hogg performed outstandingly throughout the tournament, his most notable moment being a fantastic solo try against Ireland.
Making his way in to the Scotland squad just four years ago, Hogg has come a long way, making 43 appearances over that time. Often praised for being creative, Hogg is not only a great impact defender, but also a great asset for the Scottish and Glasgow Warriors attack.
As a result of his success, Stuart Hogg is sure to rise up the ranks as a world class player, making his name known internationally as well as nationally. His flair and physical prowess can only help him become more successful and will encourage young talent from local border towns to follow their dream and become successful players themselves.
