After the success of the first Journey to Change project, this year’s seniors are striving to plan and fundraise for a bigger and (even) better exchange in February 2017.

The plan is to raise £4000 to enable eight South African students to travel across to Scotland to experience our culture. Last year, Selkirk hosted two girls. We provided opportunities for classroom learning and ceilidh dancing, and engaged in important discussions about the problems faced by young people in their township, and country as a whole. The girls had a real, warming impact during their week; inspiring not only the committee but also staff members, younger pupils and the two host families.

The next fundraising event….

Coffee Morning at Selkirk Parish Church

Saturday 26th November

9:30am—12pm

Coffee, teas, cakes, raffle, face painting and more!

All support is greatly appreciated, help us get to £4000!

Host families

Interested in making the most of this cultural opportunity? Got a spare bedroom? If your answer is yes to both of these, why not get in touch about being a host family for the week long stay? Both host families last year really enjoyed and highly recommended the experience. The Committee are looking for people to come forward as soon as possible; there will be more information and a previous host pupil available at both Parents Evenings.
